Symphony Of The Lakes To Hold Auditions

The Symphony of the Lakes announced auditions for the 2017-18 season will be Sept. 23.

The symphony is a part-time professional orchestra that performs in Winona Lake and Warsaw. The auditions will be held at The Warsaw Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 210 S. High St., Warsaw, on Sept. 23 during morning and afternoon hours.

The orchestra is looking for musicians who want to become members of the orchestra on a regular basis as well as those who are interested in subbing when needed. All audition materials are available here on the symphony’s website. Those who plan to auditions should make sure they download two separate items – the letter/application form plus the document with the actual audition materials.

If there are any timetable issues for the day of the auditions, specify when those are when sending in your materials.

Vacancies in the orchestra include the following:

• violin – principal violin, violin 1 (3 positions), violin 2 (two positions)

• viola (2 section positions)

• cello (2 section positions)

• bass (2 section positions)

• flute 2/piccolo

• English horn/oboe 3

• horn 4

• Assistant principal trumpet and trumpet 3

• percussion (two positions)

• principal keyboard

For those interested in substitute positions only in winds and brass who don’t have official openings, there is a combined file for all of them (clarinet, bassoon, trombone and tuba).
