Whitko Presents ‘Down In Front’ Friday, Saturday

By Staff Report-

SOUTH?WHITLEY – Whitko High School’s fall play, “Down In Front,” takes the audience to behind the scenes of a show.
In the play, Grady (Brandon Egolf), an usher struggling with unrequited love; Neil Horne (Sam Rickerd), a nervous and nauseous playwright; Hilda (Rozlyn Bishop), a frustrated and mildly panicked theater manager; and Basil Crittenden (Brandon Oaks), a pompous theater critic, take the stage, according to a news release from Whitko.
Joining them on the stage and in the chaos are Amanda (Bekah Dixon), Neil’s girlfriend; Janie (Sarah Hewitt), a woman who has no patience for Grady; along with Roy (Quinten Ray) and Elliot (Isiah Huber), the fire marshal and his overzealous assistant.
Just when things couldn’t get any crazier, Mrs. Abernathy (Madison Dyck), the theater owner, appears, sending Cleo (Emma Neeley) the usher captain, into a frenzy of compliments and commands; while Rosemary (Sydney Trump) tries to keep Corbin (Colton Easterday), an actor in Neil’s play, in line.
With tension high in the air, the arrival of Phoebe Van Skyler (Sophia Eiler) and a shocking revelation about Gary (Conner Castillo) create so much insanity, Isadora (Dreama Doggendorf) and Matilda (Zoe Goggin) would give anything to put it on their website.
The release states, “Candy (Hannah Porter) and Frieda (Cozette Mengerink) would tell you to bring your roommates and your friends, even if you make as odd of a pair as Rosie (Nicole Lawson) and Penny (Raven Lemler).”
The play is at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday on Whitko High School’s stage. Tickets are available at the door. Adults are $6, and students are $5.
