Coming this September, the YMCA Corporate Challenge will once again offer the opportunity for company employees to work together as a team - building fitness, health, and company pride. A month-long event featuring 26 events, the Corporate Challenge will consist of team activities such as: volleyball, kickball, softball, dodgeball, tennis, bagg-o, and 3 on 3 basketball.

There also will be more individual contests such as: challenges on the climbing wall, racquetball, predicted time bike rides, a 5K cross country race, and a swim meet. Each contest earns points for the company team. Last year's Corporate Challenge winner was Biomet.

Each Corporate Challenge team may consist of up to 70 participants from the participating corporation or company. Smaller businesses can join together to create a team. Participants will have access to the YMCA for training from the time of registration until Oct. 19.

New events this year are the indoor triathlon, Texas Hold'em, a track meet, soccer, Flex Your Brain, and a 3 Point Shoot-out.

Opening Ceremonies will be Sept. 22. Events include a Tug-A-War contest, a putting contest, an obstacle course, a banner making contest, and a t-shirt design contest.

A Fitness Challenge will also take place Sept. 22-28. Team members will receive points toward their team for taking YMCA classes.

A mileage/yardage challenge will push employees to swim, bike, run, walk or use the elliptical machine from Oct. 6-12 and gain points for their team.

For more information on the Corporate Challenge, interested individuals can attend Corporate Challenge 101 on how to organize your team Aug. 29 at 11:30 a.m. and a Captain's Luncheon on Sept. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at the Smith Street YMCA.

Registration is due Sept. 12 by 5 p.m.

Events will take place September 20 - Oct. 12.

The Awards Ceremony will be Oct. 19.
