Serving more than 650 businesses in northern Indiana and southwest Michigan, Welch Packaging is a locally owned producer of corrugated products that includes brown boxes, displays and specialty corrugated packaging.
Beginning in late 2007, Welch has been revamping its Elkhart-based corrugated facility to accommodate the new machinery and expanded capabilities. The new equipment is now in full operation.
"Our customers are under constant pressure to lower costs and reduce inventories," said Welch President M. Scott Welch. "Packaging is an important cost for many of these local manufacturers. We have chosen to invest in the packaging world's best technology and engineering so we can continue to be a low cost solution in our customers' supply chain."
The recent investments include a new Bobst NT 1636 Flexo Folder Gluer. This large format machine takes sheets of corrugated board and converts them into a finished box with the capability of changing from order to order in minutes. The machine, which prints up to two colors per pass, also has inline die cutting capabilities for special customer requirements.[[In-content Ad]]
