Wal-Mart and Sam's Club locations in the company's Indiana region have raised more money for children's hospitals than any other region within the nationwide retailer. These associates raised $1,113,465.17 for Riley Hospital for Children in 2006, topping $1 million for the second year in a row.

The Warsaw Wal-Mart SuperCenter raised $15,008.33.

The nation's largest retailer is a long-time supporter of Children's Miracle Network. Riley is Indiana's only CMN-affiliated hospital, so funds raised in the state benefit children in Indiana.

Each year, families from every Hoosier county turn to Riley Hospital more than 232,000 times. Children benefit from services such as the largest autism treatment center in the nation, the largest diabetes care center in the region, and one of the top five pediatric heart surgery programs and newborn intensive care units in the country.

In Kosciusko County alone, families come to Riley more than 1,100 times annually.

Wal-Mart and Sam's Club locations give more than $5 million in cash and in-kind donations to causes and organizations in Indiana every year.

"We are proud of our partnership with Riley Hospital and the miracles it performs not only for Hoosier children, but for children who come to Riley Hospital literally from around the world," said Jason Wetzel, senior manager of public affairs for the Wal-Mart Foundation.

"Wal-Mart and Sam's Club associates have joined us in making children a priority. They truly care about their community and prove their dedication again and again," said Kevin O'Keefe, president and CEO of the Riley Children's Foundation, the hospital's fundraising organization. "Together, we are ensuring Indiana families have access to the best pediatric health care available."

Through the generosity of donors, the Riley Children's Foundation supports Riley Hospital for Children, Camp Riley for Youth with Physical Disabilities and the James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home.

As Indiana's only comprehensive hospital dedicated to the care of children, Riley Hospital has provided compassionate care, support and comfort to children and their families since 1924. Families from all of Indiana's 92 counties turn to Riley more than 230,000 times each year. Riley Hospitals partnership with Clarian Health and its strong affiliation with the Indiana University School of Medicine make Riley a national leader in pediatric care and research.
