A record-breaking, standing-room-only crowd of more than 1,500 Kosciusko REMC members and their families packed Warsaw Community Church on Saturday for the electric cooperative's 69th Annual Meeting.

The primary item on the agenda was the election of directors. Incumbents Terry Bouse and Tom Shively were re-elected to serve additional three year terms, and Rick Parker was elected to his first three-year term on the Board of Directors.

During the meeting, the 2007 Annual Report was presented, and was accompanied by reports from Chairman of the Board John Anglin Jr., Board Secretary/Treasurer Terry Bouse and President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Rhodes.

The meeting theme of "Looking Down the Road" gave members an overview of the many changes and successes KREMC experienced in the past year, but also provided a look at what the future holds. Members were introduced to the "Our Energy, Our Future" campaign, which encourages the public to begin talking to their legislators about balancing energy costs, rising energy demand, and carbon reduction efforts.

"We were absolutely thrilled to see so many members attend the annual meeting," said President and CEO Steve Rhodes. "Our attendance was up by more than 600 people from 2007. This is a true demonstration of democracy in action, and every vote had an impact. We hope members had a good time, and we hope they'll continue to take an active role in their annual meeting."
