In the early planning stages it may be best to try and pick a couple dates that you have in mind and post them on your Facebook group page to see which dates works best for the family. Majority wins. Then you need to find a location to have this reunion that will accommodate the number of people you will have there. It's nice if you can find a place with kitchen access so that when food needs to be reheated or kept warm you have that available.
Once you have the date and location planned, you can start contacting family members that may not have Facebook. You can also create save the date postcards and mail them to family members so they have something to hang on their refrigerator as a reminder.
On the Facebook page you can also start listing food items or tableware items you will be willing to bring so that you don't have too much of one thing at the reunion.
The day of the reunion can be a very hectic day especially for those who are hosting it.
Making sure everything is set up and ready for family to come and be comfortable and ready to have a fun time. A couple things that you can create to display at the reunion are memorial tables where you can display pictures or memorabilia of family who has passed on. Also for those of you into genealogy you can also create your family tree on poster board to display.
A reunion is also a good time to take along those family photos that you need to get identified to see if you can get some of them identified from other family members.
If your family is one who does not have reunions, why not try to have one. It will be good to get the family together. There are many websites and even a magazine called Reunions that can give you tips on planning your reunion.
Take the time to enjoy your family and get to know them more and hear the stories of long ago.
