SYRACUSE - Owen Family Funeral Home has demonstrated its commitment to offering families the highest standards of caring and compassionate service by joining the National Funeral Directors Association. As an NFDA member, Owen Family Funeral Home upholds and promotes NFDA's mission of maintaining the highest ethics and its dedication to creating meaningful service for families. In addition, NFDA members have access to a variety of educational and informational materials related to funeral service options to provide to families and their communities.

NFDA members offer families the added reassurance of adhering to the NFDA Enforceable Code of Professional Conduct. This set of ethical and professional standards raises the bar for funeral directors by enhancing the professional practices of NFDA members.

"As evidenced by becoming an NFDA member, Owen Family Funeral Home is committed to the highest standards of professional care and service," said NFDA chief executive officer Christine Pepper, CAE. "We're thrilled to welcome them into the association, and look forward to our work together in further developing and advancing the funeral service profession."

The funeral home received their license and opened the doors at 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse, in November 2005. The business is owned by lifetime area residents Richard and Kimberly Owen, of Syracuse. Richard has been involved in the funeral business for 22 years and is a licensed funeral director as well as a pre-need life insurance agent. Kym is a reading teacher at North Webster Elementary School. They have three children: Mrs. Christopher (Kristen) Coy, Alexander Owen, Kathryn Owen; and three grandchildren, who are active with the daily operations of the family-run firm. The funeral home specializes in devoting their attention to one establishment, allowing them to personally serve each and every family, one family at a time.

NFDA is the leading funeral service association, serving more than 20,000 individual members who represent 11,000 funeral homes in the United States and other countries. From its headquarters in Brookfield, Wis., and its Advocacy Office in Washington, D.C., NFDA provides advocacy, education, information, products, programs and services to help members enhance the quality of service to families.
