The semi-annual North Manchester Garden Tour has become an inspiration for gardeners, nature lovers and all who appreciate the serenity of the outdoors. According to a press release, it has earned a reputation as being both soothing and invigorating. It is a day filled with beautiful blooms, exotic plants, creative design, garden art, butterflies, birds and fellowship, according to a press release.
The “Welcome to My Garden” tour is intended to cater to those who wish to enjoy a leisurely stroll through unique and charming gardens, or those who wish to garner inspiration for their own garden projects.
This garden walk is hosted by the Manchester America in Bloom committee and will begin at the Eel River Town Gardens, adjacent to the Lutheran Church at 113 W. Main St., in downtown North Manchester.
Garden walk participants will find a delightful outdoor market at the Eel River Gardens filled with vendor booths displaying artistic wares, garden art, plants for sale and many decorative and useful items for the home and garden. Vendors interested in participating in the market may contact AIB member Paula Deeat [email protected] for more information.
This year the tour features six distinctive private gardens throughout the North Manchester area.
The first home on the tour features the Slavkin family’s English-style gardens, surrounding their historic home that has been restored in recent years both inside and out.
The second garden on the tour is home to the Morbitzer family where beautiful flowering garden rooms lead to an abundant vegetable garden that looks as good as it tastes.
Peabody Retirement Community is host to several unique gardens that feature a waterfall, shade gardens, pergolas and lovely outdoor living areas for all to enjoy.
Garden tour participants will have the opportunity to tour not only the gardens of the Manwaring home, but also the interior of this home will be open to the public for views of the pond and gardens below.
Bright flowering vines, perennials and shrubs compose the gardens of the Fruitt family, where large tiered beds serve as the backdrop of the property.
The final destination of the garden tour is the Schuler home, where this gardening couple has combined her love of plants with his extensive woodworking abilities to create a delightful country garden. Featuring a large wooden train for grandchildren to play in, unique birdhouses and a fountain made of repurposed items, this garden is sure to inspire your garden imagination.
The garden tour is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 21. Tickets are $8 for adults, or two for $15. Pre-event tickets will be sold at Cottage Creations and Wetzel Insurance.
Tickets will be sold at the Eel River Town Gardens the day of the tour, at 113 W. Main St., North Manchester.
The Garden Walk is sponsored by Batteries Plus Bulbs, Beacon Credit Union, Country View Greenhouse, Hardee’s Restaurant, Hoffman’s Nursery, Manchester Realty, Metzger Landscaping, Tri-Oaks Realty, Wetzel Insurance Agency, First Merchants Bank and Main View Inn.
