Eldred and the former Louise Penrod were married Jan. 14, 1939. He was a farmer, school bus driver, sold DeKalb seed corn, owned and operated Junction 13 & 14 Service Center and was the Jackson Township precinct committeeman for many years. At 96, he still gardens, mows lawn and maintains his home on Ind. 13.
Louise has been a homemaker, bookkeeper, tractor driver, Sunday school teacher and she likes to refinish furniture.
The couple have a daughter, Carolyn Smith, Fort Wayne; three grandchildren: Mark Smith, Huntertown; Brian Smith and Dawn Nofzinger, both of Garrett; three great-grandsons: Scott, Samson and Sullivan Nofzinger, Garrett; and four stepgrandchildren.
The open house will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Ind.a 14, 2.5 miles west of Ind. 13. They request no gifts.[[In-content Ad]]
