Super Lawyers, which commenced nationally in 2003, recognizes those attorneys in each of the 50 states in 60 separate legal fields who have undergone a rigorous process of peer review by their attorney colleagues. Each attorney is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement. A survey and research process precedes final selection from the more than 14,000 lawyers of the Indiana Bar.
Tom Lemon was named Super Lawyer for the sixth consecutive year. He also was named among the Top 50 lawyers in Indiana, the fifth consecutive year of such honor. Lemon was designated an Indiana Super Lawyer based on his work in the field of alternative dispute resolution/mediator. Lemon has conducted more than 3,500 mediations and he has taught mediation principles to attorneys on behalf of the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum for more than 15 years. He is a former president of the Indiana State Bar Association and a member and past regent of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was honored as a Sagamore of the Wabash by the late Governor Frank O'Bannon in 1997.
Walston was chosen an Indiana Super Lawyer for the first time this year in the field of elder law. He is one of only seven elder law attorneys so designated among the more than 350 members of the elder law section of the state bar. He is a graduate of Ball State University in 1968 and of the Indiana University School of Law, Bloomington, in 1971.
Walston previously held executive legal positions at Sprint Corp. before retiring from corporate practice in 2000. He resumed private practice of law, focusing on elder law, WealthCounsel estate planning, Medicaid planning, and special needs planning for the elderly and persons with disabilities. Walston has spoken at more than 200 workshops, seminars and continuing legal education gatherings at regional, state and local events in the preceding five years and is the author of numerous papers regarding elder law issues.
Walston is a member of the national and state chapters of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, ElderLawAnswers, ElderCounsel, WealthCounsel, WealthCounsel Advisors Forum, Veterans Benefits Institute and the Academy of Special Needs Planners.
Mike Miner, partner in the law firm, said, "It is rare for a smaller, more rural, law firm to have one attorney designated a Super Lawyer. To have two attorneys designated among our 11 attorney firm speaks very highly of the quality of legal services enjoyed by our clientele. We are proud of that distinction and pleased that Tom and Wayne have received such recognition for their work."[[In-content Ad]]
