SYRACUSE - The staff at Owen Family Funeral Home is preparing for its second annual holiday memorial service. The service will be Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. at the Owen Family Funeral Home Chapel at 1001 S. Huntington Street, Syracuse.

This year's guest speaker will be Pastor David Herr from Calvary United Methodist Church. The guest soloist will be Annette Mock from North Webster.

A theme is chosen each year for the service, which honors those who have lost loved ones in the past year. Much consideration is given to choosing an appropriate theme. This year's theme will be "Poinsettias." Each person in attendance will receive a poinsettia ornament in memory of their loved one.

As the family members enter they will see the decorated tree and chapel. During the service the name of the family member being honored will be read, an ornament will be taken from the tree by a staff member, and it will be presented to the family members by Owen. The attendees will then have a lasting memorial which they can take home and place on their tree. The staff hopes that the families will start a new tradition of placing this memorial on their tree each year in memory of their loved one.

The Owen Family Funeral Home staff feels this is one way they can partner with grieving families and friends, during the holiday season, as they journey through the death of a loved one.

Everyone in the community who has lost a loved one in the last year may participate in this memorial service. Reservations are needed to attend the service. Call 574-457-4002 by Dec. 6 to let the Owen Family Funeral Home staff know you will attend.[[In-content Ad]]
