Happy New Years to all you genealogists out there reading this. This new year, did you set genealogy New Years resolutions? It's a good idea to look through your research that you have gathered so far and look and see what information you are missing and compile a list of the missing pieces. That way you can contact family members and see if they can help you with the missing pieces or, if not, that will give you things to look for when you go to a research center such as library, historical society or court house.
I recently found a new interesting website which deals with land information. It's called www.vintageaerial.com where you can search by state and country and also by name or address to get an aerial photo of land. This site has over 23 million photos, taken in 41 states. I haven't had a lot of opportunity to look up very many addresses but those I have found it has been very interesting. You can order copies of the aerial photo but the ones that I have researched so far are accessible through the website.
Land records if a part of genealogy research that I, like others don't consider to be a useful tool for genealogy research. Although land records can be the very key needed for breaking that brick wall. Especially when you find out a neighbor of one of your ancestors was actually that ancestors brother, cousin and aunt and uncle. You just never know what you may run across when researching land records.[[In-content Ad]]
