WINONA LAKE - Former Times-Union reporter Liz Cutler Gates has returned to the area as editorial director of the Brethren Missionary Herald Co., Winona Lake.

Previously, she was the director of communications for the Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, a position she had held since 1996. She was a reporter at the Times-Union from 1978 until 1981. She continued to write for the paper on a part-time basis until she moved to Ohio in 1988.

In her new position Gates has primary editorial responsibility for the FGBC World, the publication which is sent to Grace Brethren churches nationwide, and will work closely with additional contract publications and with the general editorial needs of the company and of BMH Books.

BMH Executive Director Terry White, who was Gates' journalism professor at Grace College in the 1970s, said, "I'm so delighted that Liz has responded to this opportunity. Her professional expertise, her background in our fellowship of churches, and her heart for ministry will be a tremendous asset in helping BMH fulfill its mission to build bridges of communication among the people and churches of the Fellowship."

Gates is a graduate of Grace College (B.A. 1977) and holds a master's degree in journalism from Ball State University. She has taken additional post graduate work in marketing and higher education administration at The Ohio State University.

She and her husband, Doug, reside in Warsaw.
