Serving the communities in Kosciusko County, Multi Township EMS has been committed to providing caring, competent, and efficient pre-hospital medical care to the area since 1977.

For many of the people who require MTEMS services, severe pain is a big issue. In the interest of providing patients with the latest offerings in pain management, MTEMS has sought contributions to provide each of their ambulances with portable nitrous oxide units. Dr. Williams and Dr. Hartman, Medical Directors at MTEMS, realize the importance of these nitrous oxide units and are very proactive in ensuring patient comfort and making MTEMS one of the best EMS services around.

"Given that many of the patients we transport are suffering from severe pain, we thought it was a good idea to have nitrous oxide tanks on each rig because they work quickly to relieve their pain, said Gary Hicks, Critical Care Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (CCEMT-P), MTEMS. "DePuy's generous donation will allow us to purchase two new units."

About Multi-Township EMS

Multi Township EMS (MTEMS) commenced operations as a Basic Life Support Ambulance Provider on December 27, 1977. Under the auspices of Dr. Richard Galbreath, MTEMS became certified as an EMT-Advanced organization in 1980. With the assistance of Dr. Linda Law, MTEMS attained Paramedic Provider status in February of 1987, and remained the only Paramedic service in Kosciusko County until 1996.

MTEMS is a not-for-profit corporation. Operating funds are obtained by tax subsidy and revenue generated by ambulance calls. MTEMS operates with paid personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year. MTEMS maintains five full-time crews and one additional paramedic on duty. Two crews are stationed in Warsaw, one crew is stationed in Leesburg, one crew is stationed in Silver Lake, and one crew is stationed in Bourbon. Additionally, MTEMS offers one paramedic for responding out of a squad stationed in Milford. There is also a crew scheduled from 7a.m. to 7p.m. Monday through Friday to assist with the extra daytime load.
