Betty Cone, Columbia City and formerly of Pierceton, will celebrate her 95th birthday March 22 at an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. at The Oaks, U.S. 30 and Wolf Road, Columbia City.
She was born Elizabeth Ellen Hamsher March 22, 1920, in Nappanee, to Frank and Veva Hamsher. She married Charles Cone in 1943, and they had five children: Dana, Syracuse; Todd and Kent, both of Pierceton; and Garth and Carla, deceased. Charles died in 1997.
Betty worked at Ball Band, Mishawaka, and then at Robinson’s grocery store and Playtime, both in Warsaw. Later she worked at Whitley Products, Pierceton, and also with her husband in their construction business.
