Christner 90th Birthday

Bonnie Christner, formerly of North Webster and Syracuse, will be celebrating her 90th birthday Wednesday. Bonnie Jean Kline was born March 4, 1925, in South Bend, to Ike and Mildred Kline.
She graduated from La Grange High School in 1943, and she worked in the La Grange newspaper office until she met Rollin Christner. The two were married March 9, 1946, and she became a homemaker at that time. She and Rollin were married for 59 years until Rollin’s passing April 30, 2005. She and Rollin lived in La Grange until they moved to North Webster in the mid 1940s.
She was the founding choir director at the North Webster Church of God in the early 1960s, where she remained director for 10 years. She taught piano lessons in her home for several years. She was church organist at several area churches. She had a beautiful soprano voice, and was well known for her singing and radio broadcasts. She was the general manager of the Christner transports for 10 years, and was the bookkeeper for the Belgian Draft Horse Corp. in Wabash until her retirement in 1993.
She is the mother of three daughters: Yvonne Keirn, Warsaw; Connie (and Greg) Meadows, Warsaw; and Ginger Peters, Pierceton. She is the grandmother of Rodney (and Amy) Keirn and Tracy (and Travis) Irwin, Claypool; Shelly Fraley, Warsaw; Tammy (and Brad) Sprunger, South Whitley; Jeremy Meadows, Bloomington; Gretel, Gared and Gayle Peters, Pierceton. Bonnie is also a great-grandmother to six great-grandchildren: Broc Fraley, Warsaw; Isaac, Isabelle, and Ethan Irwin, Claypool; and Amelia and Davis Sprunger, South Whitley.
Her birthday will officially be celebrated with family and close friends Sunday at Grace Village Assisted Living Family Life Center, Winona Lake.
