Former area resident Harrison F. Bornmann Jr. will celebrate his 80th birthday Aug. 26, 2011.

He was born in 1931, in Bedford, Pa., to Harrison F. Sr. and Edna Walck Bornmann.

He moved to Indiana during his college years. While attending Penn State, he worked at Roof Garden Egg Co., Meyersday, Pa., and met his wife while driving an egg truck in Indiana for the summer. They were married Dec. 22, 1951, in her parent’s residence. The couple spent the next years at Purdue University where he transferred and  earned a bachelor’s degree in poultry science in 1954. The couple then spent two years in Germany while he served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.

Self-employed in the poultry business for many years, he resided on a 50-acre farm in rural Kosciusko County, north of Palestine. Moving to Colorado in 1981, he retired from the Coors Brewing Co. in 1996, followed by a second retirement in 2010 from the hardware department of Home Depot.

He has three children: Gail (and spouse Ron) Buhr, Warsaw; David (and spouse Jenny) Bornmann, Valparaiso; and Liz (and spouse Dave) Huyck, Arvada, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to a family celebration, he would enjoy receiving cards and hearing from friends. You may send them to 10523 Santa Fe St., Northglenn, CO 80234-3869.[[In-content Ad]]
