Wawasee Christmas Concert Tuesday

SYRACUSE – On Tuesday, the Wawasee High School Choral Department will present a “Christmas Celebration” for the community.
The program begins at 7:30 p.m., and takes place in the high school auditorium. The program will feature both secular and sacred music of the Christmas season. The Beginning Choir, Advanced Choir and Vocal Motion will be participating.  
The concert will begin with all choirs performing an arrangement of “God Rest You Merry Gentlemen,” with an accompaniment to Tchaikovsky’s “Nut Cracker Suite.”
The concert will end with all choirs performing “Hallelujah Chorus” from “Messiah” by George Handel.
The Beginning Choir will perform “Ding Dong Merrily on High.”
The Advanced Choir will perform “Beautiful December” and “Candy Cane Lane.”
Vocal Motion will sing several holiday selections with choreography. The group will perform “Holiday Road”, “Still, Still, Still” and the group’s traditional performance of “Fruitcake.” The group also will perform the selection “White Winter Hymnal” that was just recently featured on WNDU television.
The final number the group will perform is “Celebrity Christmas,” which features humorous renditions of “Frosty, the Snowman,” performed by Benjamin Meeks as Elvis; “Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer,” performed in country style by Elmer J. Kirkpatrick; and “Suzie Snow Flake,” performed by Payton Vandiver in a Tina Turner style.
All groups will perform other holiday favorites.
Senior Dance Captain Ethan Wright is the choreographer for the program. Connie Meadows is the director of choirs.
Tickets for the program are $5 for general admission. They will be available at the door or can be purchased through Meadows by calling 574-457-3147, Ext. 2258.
