Whitko’s Gwen Howard Wins State Shot Put Title

Whitko senior Gwen Howard put a fantastic cap on a remarkable career on Saturday, winning the state championship in shot put at the IHSAA Girls Track and Field State Finals. Howard also took third place in discus.

"As Gwen’s coach the past four years, seeing her end her career with a state championship is incredibly meaningful- It’s the culmination of years of relentless dedication and growth. I’ve watched her continually raise the bar for herself and her teammates. To see all of her hard work rewarded on the biggest stage is deeply fulfilling, not just for her, but for everyone who’s been part of her journey," Whitko track and field coach Ashley O'Haver said. "It’s a moment that reflects not only her talent but her character, and I couldn’t be prouder of the legacy she leaves behind for the Whitko Wildcats!"
