Main Street Warsaw is partnering with the Kosciusko Community YMCA to launch a 14-week Downtown Warsaw Run/Walk Training Program, designed to support and prepare both runners and walkers of all experience levels for their personal fitness and racing goals.
Kicking off on June 18 and running through Oct. 1, this program offers participants structure, expert guidance and a strong sense of community — whether they’re training for their first half marathon, working to improve their pace or simply looking to stay active in a supportive environment, according to a news release from Main Street Warsaw.
The program will be led by Scott Erba, head boys track and field coach for Warsaw Community High School, and will include two group sessions each week. On Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m., participants will meet at the Downtown Warsaw YMCA for a combination of group training and educational instruction. On Saturday mornings at 9 a.m., the group will meet at the Kosciusko County Farmers and Artisans Market for a long run or walk through downtown Warsaw. Throughout the program, participants will receive weekly training plans, access to educational materials and support from certified coaches and pacers. The clinic also offers digital tools such as a Strava group and online logging support to help participants track progress.
Additional perks include a program t-shirt, printed route handouts for long sessions, light post-run refreshments and a celebratory event at the end of the season. Those registered for the program will also receive full access to the Downtown Warsaw YMCA facilities during the Wednesday night sessions.
“We’re excited to bring this program to the Warsaw community,” said Terry Sweeney, Main Street Warsaw downtown coordinator. “This clinic goes beyond running — it’s about helping people gain confidence, stay motivated and connect with others who share their goals.”
Mark McQuade, director of healthy living at the Parkview Warsaw YMCA, said, “Programs like this are a great reminder that fitness is for everyone. Whether you're walking, running, or somewhere in between, you're part of a community working toward something bigger than just a finish line.”
The Downtown Warsaw Run/Walk Training Program will be held at the Kosciusko Community YMCA’s Downtown Branch, 575 W. Fort Wayne St., Warsaw. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. For more information or to sign up, visit www.kcymca.org or contact Tracy Frick at [email protected].
