MARSHALL COUNTY - An Etna Green couple were killed Monday evening in a pickup truck versus horse-drawn buggy collision.
According to the Marshall County Coroner’s Office, at 5:43 p.m. Monday, they were notified of a motor vehicle fatality on 8th Road, west of Apple Road. A crash news release from the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department (MCSD) stated that the MCSD, Bourbon Police, Bourbon Fire and Lutheran EMS all were dispatched to the area to investigate.
The deceased couple - Aden W. Chupp, 62, and Mary Sue Chupp, 60, husband and wife of Etna Green - were occupants of a horse-drawn buggy traveling west on 8th Road when they were hit from behind by a 2002 Silver Ford F-150 pickup truck, driven by Jarrett L. Sutton, 41, no address given. Sutton was not injured in the collision. The Chupps were ejected from the horse-drawn carriage and pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Dean Byers.
The MCSD report states that the pickup truck was traveling west on 8th Road and had collided into the back of the horse-drawn carriage with multiple occupants. The carriage was being pulled by a single horse.
The MCSD is still investigating the collision.
Agencies involved include the MCSD, Marshall County Coroner’s Office, Bourbon police and fire and Lutheran EMS.
