On a night that Warsaw was up 42-0 at halftime and wound up rolling for eight touchdowns on the way to a 56-7 Northern Lakes Conference football win against Goshen, Bart Curtis outlined positives and negatives.

Facing off against a 5A team for the first time since 1999 (Warsaw) Tippecanoe Valley welcomed Hammond Morton to Akron Friday night. The Vikings led for almost the entirety of the game, and even after a shootout of a second half, Valley was able hold on for a 35-23 win, the team’s first win over a 5A school since 1996 (12-0 over Warsaw).

Volleyball, Boys Soccer and Girls Soccer

A nonconference affair between two local teams, the Wawasee and Lakeland Christian boys soccer teams met in Winona Lake Thursday evening. The Warriors started the game strong but it was the Cougars who were able to finish, scoring four goals in the final 13 minutes to win 5-4 after a stunning comeback.

The Warsaw and Concord boys soccer teams found themselves meeting at the Tiger Soccer Complex Wednesday night in a battle of undefeated teams. The Tigers scored the game’s first goal, but the Minutemen had the last laugh, scoring three unanswered to win the game 3-1.

Volleyball, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Boys Tennis and Girls Golf

Warsaw and Goshen, two of the top girls soccer programs in the Northern Lakes Conference faced off at the Tiger Soccer Complex Tuesday night in what turned out to be a doozy of a match. The highly contested game featured plenty of chances for both sides, with each team scoring a goal late to end the game in a 1-1 draw.

A pair of Grace women’s soccer players were honored on Tuesday by the Crossroads League.

Football, Volleyball and Boys Soccer

In what was a first for the Warsaw football program, the Tigers traveled down to Indianapolis Friday night for a meeting with one of the top 6A schools in the state, Warren Central. The game did not go the way of the Tigers, as the visitors lost 34-0.

For the Tippecanoe Valley and Rochester football programs, there is nothing like the Bell Game. One of the best rivalry games in the northern half of the state, the 2024 edition of the Battle for the Bell had a little bit of everything. After a slow start, a long lightning delay at halftime and a dominant second half, the Vikings were able to keep the Bell in Akron for the seventh straight year with a 22-12 win.

The 2024 cross country season is days away from kicking off for Grace, and the Lancers are excited for the possibilities.

Volleyball, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer and Girls Golf

After last year’s event exceeded all expectations, the Winona Lake Sunset Pickleball Tournament is back for the second straight year of what is looking to become an annual get together for pickleball players from all around the area as well as the state and beyond.

Coming off of two straight losses, the Manchester boys soccer team looked to make a statement Thursday as the boys hosted Wabash for their second conference game of the season. Using crucial goals in the opening stages of both the first and second halves, the Squires remained unbeaten in the Three Rivers Conference with a 3-0 win.

Grace’s women’s tennis team, under the guidance of third-year head coach Emily Ackerman, is eager to get the 2024-25 campaign underway.

The strong start to the season for Grace’s women’s soccer team continued on Wednesday in a rout of Indiana Tech.

In another edition of what has become a great rivalry in recent years, the Warsaw volleyball team hosted Penn at the Tiger Den Wednesday night. As is the case every time these teams get together, it was a great one, with the Lady Tigers surviving a massive comeback by the visitors to win 3-2.

Grace’s two-time defending Crossroads League champion men’s tennis team is poised to continue its success as they enter the 2024-25 season.

Coming into Monday night’s contest against Rochester undefeated, the Triton volleyball team was tested in every way possible. The Lady Trojans responded to the adversity well, answering almost every challenge that was put in front of them. But in the end, the Lady Zebras’ big win in a crucial fourth set gave them a 3-1 victory at the Trojan Trench.

With the start to the 2024-25 campaign around the corner, Grace College’s women’s golf team is looking for consistency to fuel a special season.
