For the second straight season, the Warsaw boys soccer team’s regional semifinal match would not be determined in regular or extra time, instead needing penalty kicks to decide a winner. This time, the Tigers were able to come out on top, defeating No. 5 Carroll on the road 0-0 (5-4) to live to fight another day.

Grace’s volleyball team fought off a feisty Taylor squad to win 3-1 on Wednesday. The No. 14 Lancers (17-5, 10-2 Crossroads League) lost the opening set but claimed the next three to grab the road win.

For the second time in these playoffs, the Warsaw girls soccer team had a chance to avenge a regular-season loss with a playoff victory. Unlike last week’s sectional semifinal however, the Lady Tigers were unable to even up the season series against Penn Wednesday night at the Tiger Soccer Complex, falling 3-0 in the regional semis.

The Warsaw Tigers boys’ soccer side streaked to a convincing 4-nil victory over the Homestead Spartans for their third straight IHSAA Class 3A Sectional 5 title Saturday night on the synthetic turf at Huntington North High School.

Any more Pepper and Concord might’ve been left in an uncontrollable sneezing jag.

Grace’s volleyball team made quick work of Goshen on Saturday. The No. 14 Lancers (16-5, 9-2 Crossroads League) swept the Maple Leafs in convincing fashion.

Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer and Football

Playing its first home game in four weeks as well as the final home game of the regular season, Tippecanoe Valley had to fight tooth and nail to pick up a Senior night victory over John Glenn. In a game that came down to the final seconds, the Vikings got a much-needed defensive stop to finish off a 22-21 victory.

While Warsaw did not get the start that it wanted facing off against Northern Lakes Conference foe NorthWood Friday night, the Tigers certainly got the finish they were looking for. Down 21-0 early in the contest, Warsaw battled back, scoring the last 35 points of the game to pick up a 35-21 win in Nappanee, the school’s first since 2012.

Facing off against Northern Lakes Conference Champions Northridge for the second time this season, the Warsaw girls soccer team had its work cut out for them in order to win the match and advance to the 3A sectional championship game at Elkhart. After a masterclass of a defensive performance as well as a timely goal, the Lady Tigers advanced with a 1-0 win.

Getting the bye in the seven-team boys soccer sectional at Huntington North, Warsaw began its playoff journey Wednesday evening against Columbia City. The Tigers got an early goal, added a few more along the way, looking dominant in a 3-0 win.

Boys Tennis, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer and Volleyball

A September match between the Warsaw and Goshen girls soccer teams resulted in a 1-1 tie after a hard-fought match. Tuesday night, the two teams met for a second time on a much bigger stage: the opening round of the 3A girls soccer sectional tournament at Elkhart High School. With a winner having to emerge this time around, it came down to penalty kicks, with the Lady Tigers winning 5-3 after a 0-0 tie.

Lakeland Christian boys soccer began their playoff run Monday evening at Argos High School, taking on Caston in the first round of the 1A bracket. The match was dominated by the Cougars from the opening whistle onward, as the team advanced to the semifinals with a 7-0 win.

For the third straight year, Grace’s men’s tennis team reigns supreme. The Lancers have put together quite the run over the last three seasons, going 33-0 in Crossroads League play during the regular season and conference tournaments.

Girls Golf, Boys Tennis, Football, Volleyball and Boys Soccer

Looking to avoid a third straight loss while also sending off senior players on a high note, the Warsaw football team took on Mishawaka in its final home game of the season Friday night. For the third straight week, it was a tight game down the stretch, but this time, the Tigers were able to come up with a big stop when needed to get back on track with a 21-13 win on Senior Night.

In what has become a rivalry between the two premier teams in the Northern Lakes Conference, the Warsaw and NorthWood volleyball teams met at the Tiger Den Thursday night for a game with major conference implications. The Lady Tigers were able to keep their perfect conference record alive, clinching at least a share of the NLC for the third straight year with a 3-0 win.

Three local teams made up the four spots at the IHSAA tennis sectional semifinals at Warsaw Thursday evening. With the Tigers taking on Whitko and the Northern Lakes Conference Champions Wawasee facing off against Columbia City for the two spots in Saturday’s final, there was plenty of action on the courts. In the end, the two NLC competitors were left standing after a 5-0 win for Warsaw and a 5-0 victory for the Warriors.

Grace College’s men’s soccer team defeated No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan in a wild 4-3 matchup on Wednesday night.

Hosting an IHSAA tennis sectional, Warsaw opened up the tournament Wednesday evening with a match against Tippecanoe Valley. The Tigers used a team effort to advance to Thursday's semifinal round with a 4-1 victory over the Vikings.
