A six-game winning streak came to a halt on Wednesday for Grace’s men’s basketball team.

On a night where the Warsaw football team was honored before the game, another Tiger team with high expectations going into the season made its 2024 debut. The Warsaw boys basketball team tipped the season off at the Tiger Den against Columbia City, and after battling for the better part of the game, the home side pulled away in the final minutes to win the opener 62-53.

The final game of the high school football season in Indiana promised one thing on Saturday night: Either the Warsaw Tigers or the Decatur Central Hawks were going to leave Lucas Oil Stadium with the first state title in school history. Decatur Central started the game with the ball, took the lead, and never looked back, going wire-to-wire for a 38-24 win in the 5A State Championship Game.

83 practices. That’s the number of preparatory sessions Warsaw Community High School will have logged during the 2024 season heading into the IHSAA Class 5A state championship football game.

About two months ago, the Warsaw Tiger football team was not playing its best ball. Two straight last-second losses to Concord and rival Plymouth all but eliminated the Tigers from the Northern Lakes Conference title race and dropped their record to 3-3. Fast forward to right now, and the team (10-3) is gearing up to take the field in the IHSAA 5A State Championship Game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis against Decatur Central.

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of going to a Warsaw football practice and speaking with four of the team’s five captains. With so much having been written in recent weeks about their performance on the field, and rightfully so, I wanted to peel back the curtain a bit and ask them some questions about themselves. Each of the four players were asked the same eight questions. Below are each of their answers.

Boys basketball season returned to the Hardwood Teepee Tuesday night as Wawasee tipped off the season for area teams by hosting rival Fairfield. Things were incredibly close for most of the game, with the Falcons extending their lead in the second half. The Warriors made a furious comeback in the final minutes, but it was too little too late as the visitors emerged with a 46-43 win.

Grace’s men’s basketball team passed a major road test on Saturday.

Without a question, the biggest game in Warsaw football history was played Friday night at Fisher Field. The stakes were simple: win, and head down to Indianapolis to represent the northern half of Indiana in the state championship game. After disposing of the No. 1 and No. 2 5A teams in the state the two previous weeks, the Tigers once again had their hands full with No. 3 Merrillville.

Searching for its first win of the season, the Triton girls basketball team welcomed their neighbors to the west, Plymouth, to the Trojan Trench Thursday night. The first half was incredibly competitive and featured multiple lead changes, but it was all Lady Pilgrims in the second half as the visitors picked up a 45-30 win.

The Crossroads League season could not have started any better for Grace’s men’s basketball team on Wednesday.

Teetering on the breaking point but not reaching it, Warsaw has kept its special 2024 high school football season going.

Brad Seiss is a big part of Warsaw Community High School’s football past.

Down 14 points after a quarter of play, it looked as if the Warsaw girls basketball team was in for a long night. But that was not the case, as the Lady Tigers rallied in the second and made a game of it. What looked to be a one-way contest turned into a thriller, with Warsaw finishing off the comeback with a 73-71 win in overtime.

Cross Country fans were treated to a packed three-day weekend, with several major post-season events occurring across several states.

History was made on two separate occasions at Fisher Field Friday night. The first was simple, as by having the game at home, the Warsaw Football team played host to a regional contest for the first time in school history. The second history-making moment was a little more difficult to reach, but after the team’s second win in as many weeks against an undefeated, highly-ranked opponent, the Tigers hoisted a regional championship trophy for the first time ever with a 44-27 win over No. 2 Lafayette Jefferson.

With two massive wins already under their belt in the early season, the Warsaw girls basketball team returned to the Tiger Den for the home opener against Fort Wayne Snider Thursday night. The Lady Tigers were able to shake off a slow start and explode in the third quarter to remain undefeated with a 74-45 win.

Just as Grace College said goodbye to the NCCAA Men’s and Women’s basketball championships back in March, the school will get its final crack at hosting the NCCAA Cross Country National Championships for both Division I and II this Friday morning.

Triton’s Football Season Comes To An End Versus North Miami

On Friday afternoon, it was Brett Sickafoose who powered the No. 8 Lancers to a 103-100 overtime win at No. 21 Madonna.

Grace's men's soccer team saw its league tournament run come to an end in dramatic fashion on Saturday night. The Lancers held a narrow 1-0 in the waning moments of the semifinal match before Spring Arbor converted a pair of goals in the final five minutes to claim the 2-1 victory.

Eleven members of the WR2 team, Warsaw, competed this past weekend at the Middle School Nationals Cross Country Meet in Louisville. Members of the WR2 (pronounced ‘WR’ squared) Track and Field Club joined over 900 runners from 29 states across six events on the E.P. Tom Sawyer XC course, which has hosted NCAA championship events.

Grace College’s women’s basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 25-point victory over Alice Lloyd on Saturday afternoon.
