Girls Golf
East Noble Regional
Battling windy conditions at Noble Hawk Golf Course Friday morning, the Warsaw girls golf team ended the season with a sixth place finish shooting a 354. The Lady Tigers finished 24 shots behind regional champions Northridge.
There was a silver lining to the loss though, as Warsaw senior Abbey Peterson qualified for the state finals as an individual for the second straight season. Peterson shot a 77 to snag one of the three at large spots available. Wawasee’s Ava Couture was also competing at regionals after advancing as an individual out of sectionals, finishing with a 102.
The state finals will be held Friday and Saturday at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel.
Football
Goshen at Wawasee
Wawasee was finally able to pick up its first win of the season Friday night, defeating Goshen 36-7. The Warriors are now 1-5 this season, 1-3 in the Northern Lakes Conference.
Benjamin Brace led the way for the Wawasee offense with 156 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Cameron Senter also hit the century mark, running for 107 and two more scores. Derek Morrison had two sacks on defense.
Wawasee is at Northridge Friday night.
Southwood at Manchester
Manchester picked up its second win in a row Friday night, moving to .500 with a 14-6 win over Southwood at home. The Squires are now 3-3 this season, 3-2 in the Three Rivers Conference.
No statistics were available for Manchester. The Squires are at home against Whitko Friday night.
Lewis Cass at Whitko
Whitko is still searching for its first win of the season after falling 49-6 to Lewis Cass at home Friday night. The Wildcats are now 0-6 this season, 0-5 in the TRC.
The lone touchdown for Whitko was scored on an eight-yard reception by Hunter Long. Landon Smith ran for 31 yards on the ground. Riley Harman recovered a fumble on defense.
Whitko is on the road at Manchester next week.
North Judson at Triton
It was a tough night for Triton against North Judson, the No. 1 1A team in the state, on Friday. The Trojans fell 40-0 at home, and are now 4-2 this season, 3-1 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference.
Jayden Overmeyer led the team with 19 rushing yards.
Triton is back in action Friday on the road at Caston.
Boys Soccer
Lakeland Christian at Blackford
Lakeland Christian kept it rolling Saturday evening with a 7-0 victory over Blackford on the road. The Cougars are now 11-4 this season.
Zaiden Miller led the way for LCA, scoring four goals in the win. Jayce Dixon, Noah Higham and Jashawn Zielasko each added goals as well.
Lakeland Christian plays its next game Friday at Trinity Greenlawn.
Boys Tennis
Wawasee at NLC Tournament
The Wawasee boy's tennis team continued their historic season by winning the NLC tournament. The tournament win combined with their regular season round robin title gives the Warriors the overall NLC title. This is the first NLC boy's tennis title in school history. No 2 singles Pablo Mor Chocos and No 3 singles Kane Duke captured individual NLC championships. No 1 singles Joey Harper and the No 2 doubles team of Brayden Miller and Austin Harvey were runner ups. No 1 doubles of Evan Byler and Dane Cripe finished 6th. Coach Vince Rhodes was named NLC coach of the year.
