Local High School Sports Recaps For Thursday, September 19

Girls Golf
Sectional at Warsaw

The first of many IHSAA sectionals for the fall season took place Thursday morning and afternoon at Stonehenge Golf Course. The end result was favorable one for local teams and athletes, as Warsaw won the sectional to advance to regionals with a team score of 355. Also advancing were NorthWood (359) and Culver Academies (378).
Alongside Warsaw, two local athletes advanced as individuals. Tippecanoe Valley’s Savana Miller (78) and Wawasee’s Ava Couture (97) will each advance to the regional as well.
Warsaw’s Abbey Petersen finished tied for first with a 71 to nab medalists honors. Miller used her 78 to take third place. Lucy Ray and Claire Ruest finished tied for seventh by each shooting a 90. Couture’s 97 earned her 13th place.
Regionals will take place next Friday at Noble Hawk Golf Course.
Volleyball
Warsaw at Plymouth

Warsaw’s dominance over the Northern Lakes Conference continued Thursday night as the team defeated Plymouth 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-15) on the road. The Lady Tigers are now 16-5 this season, 4-0 in the NLC.
Maggie Hollon had eleven kills, while CeCe Goode had nine. Ellie Hepler had four aces and 12 digs. Avary Hoeppner and Madison Branam each had 15 assists.
Warsaw is at Fort Wayne Carroll Tuesday.
Concord at Wawasee
Wawasee was on the losing end of a conference matchup Thursday night, falling 3-0 to Concord. The Lady Warriors are now 4-7 this season, 1-2 in the NLC.
Mackenzie Hackleman had seven kills. Abby Dusek had nine assists. Josie Sabin had 17 digs.
Wawasee is in action Saturday against Garrett.
Manchester at Lewis Cass
Manchester’s fantastic season continued Thursday night, as the team defeated Lewis Cass 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 18-25, 25-14) on the road. The Lady Squires improved to 15-2 this fall, 5-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.
Elizabeth Renz had 13 kills while Myla Crozier added 12. Renz also added three aces. Crozier and Hadley West each had 13 digs. Peyton Ream had 25 assists.
Manchester will compete at the Eastbrook Invitational Saturday.
Whitko at Southwood
Whitko was on the losing end of a conference game Thursday evening, falling 3-0 (11-25, 17-25, 10-25) on the road.
The Lady ‘Cats are now 5-9 this season, 2-3 in the TRC.
Emerson Harper had five kills, while Meredith Hindbaugh had 20 digs.
Whitko is at Culver Academies on Saturday.
Bethany Christian at Triton
Triton picked up a nonconference win in straight sets Thursday evening, defeating Bethany Christian 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-12) at home. The Lady Trojans are now 14-6 this season.
Mya Davis had 18 kills and three aces. Allie Westafer had 20 assists. Sierra Hawley added 16 digs, while Avery Viers added three blocks.
Triton is at the Tippecanoe Valley tournament Saturday.
