INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field Committee announced on Friday the participants in the 2023 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

For each men's individual event contested, including the heptathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.  For each women's individual event contested, including the pentathlon, the top 20 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition.  For each relay event contested, the top 12 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.

Manchester senior Enrique Salazar and sophomore Carley Camp will represent the Black and Gold at this year's national championships. Salazar will compete in the men's 10,000m run, while Camp will compete in the shot put.

Salazar broke the Manchester school record and Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) record in the men's 10,000m run at the prestigious WashU Distance carnival at the beginning of the 2023 outdoor season. Salazar finished the race in third place with a time of 29:28.55. That time currently ranks eighth in the nation in Division III, qualifying him for the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Salazar continued a successful senior campaign at the 2023 HCAC Outdoor Championships, earning 2023 HCAC Men's Most Outstanding Distance Athlete of the Year honors after earning three event wins.

Camp threw a new personal best and school record 13.97m in the shot put at the Billy Hayes Invitational at the beginning of May, placing seventh in the event. Camp's mark currently ranks 14th in the nation in Division III, earning her a spot at the 2023 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships. She also competed in shot put at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships back in March, placing 17th with a mark of 13.07m on NCAA Division III's biggest stage.

The championships will be held May 25-27 at the Polisseni Track & Field Complex in Rochester, New York.

Rochester's Carter Hooks Wins All-Conference Honor

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) announced the 2023 Baseball All-Conference teams and the major award winners on Tuesday, May 16.

Manchester University's Carter Hooks of Rochester earned All-Conference Second Team accolades.

The fifth-year pitcher threw 74.0 innings on the mound this season, striking out 57 batters while earning nine wins.

A Rochester Community High School graduate, he finishes his Black and Gold career with 240.1 innings pitched, 17 wins, and 223 strikeouts. Hooks' 223 strikeouts puts his third all-time in school history in career strikeouts.
