NAPPANEE – Paul E. Schmucker, age 93, of Nappanee, passed away at 12:06 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.  

He was born Nov. 7, 1926, near Nappanee, to Daniel and Fannie Miller Schmucker. Paul took over the family farm at the age of 16. On Oct. 12, 1947, he married Bertha Brandenberger in Goshen. Paul formerly attended North Main Street Mennonite Church. He was a member of the Syracuse Rotary Club and volunteered at the Open Door in Nappanee.

He is survived by his wife, Bertha Schmucker, Warsaw; sons: Jeff Schmucker, Warsaw; Kent Schmucker and Tim Schmucker, both of Nappanee; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Edna Hoover, Goshen.  

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Rose Schmucker; grandson, Seth Schmucker; brothers, Harley and Eli Schmucker.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 22 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, also at the funeral home. Pastor Barry Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Union Center Cemetery. In accordance with the state of Indiana Back on Track plan, family and friends are encouraged to follow social distancing protocols.
