Manchester Schools Receives $50K Grant

NORTH MANCHESTER - At Tuesday night’s regular meeting, the Manchester Community School Board accepted over $50,000 in grant funding and approved districtwide student/parent handbooks for the 2020-21 school year.

Manchester Intermediate School received $1,200 from the Indiana Commission for Higher Education for the PLTW Gateway Program: Innovators and Makers. The district also received a $50,000 Next Level Planning Grant from the Indiana Office of Career and Technical Education.

Among recommendations approved were second readings of two policies, P4230 Student Mental and Behavioral Services Records and P1000 Board of Education. P1000 was presented as a revision from July 2, 2013.

The 2020-21 student/parent handbooks for Manchester Elementary School, MIS and Manchester Junior-Senior High School were also approved upon second reading.

Four additional policies were introduced in a first reading: AG8005 Outside Agency Working Relationship, P8010 Advertisement on School Property, P8020 Equal Opportunity Employer and P3240 Gifts to and Solicitations by Staff. These and other policies are available for the public’s review on the Manchester Community Schools’ website.

The next regular school board meeting will be at 6 p.m. July 8.
