Thieves in the Night

There is a house in foreclosure across the street from me that has been empty for at least a year. It’s been mowed a couple of times this year by outside contractors, other than that no one has paid much attention to it. Today I noticed the air conditioning unit was stolen last night (July 3). I called the police to report it and was told that unless I’m the property owner or manager/caretaker they cannot make a report (even though it was a theft.) By the way it was removed this was done by a pro.

With the extreme heat and everyone having their windows closed and their air conditioning on it’s difficult to hear car doors. I know because at 3:45 this morning our doorbell rang and there were two young men who had a flat in front of our house and needed a jack. I never heard their car doors.  Coincidence? Maybe, but for all of you people out there living near or own an empty house I caution you to be vigilant in watching your neighborhood. This was stolen near a night light!  The next one could be yours.
