Twelve members of Indiana Lakeland Girl Scout Brownie Troop 16 recently donated 13 teddy bears to the Indiana State Police to provide emotional support to children in trauma. The Brownies learned about planning, budgeting, task management and measurable outcomes while coordinating the project. The girls set a goal to purchase the bears to be donated to the ISP, and at each troop meeting they brought change they had collected or earned through chores to donate to the project. Co-leaders Ann Lindquist, Heather James and Jessica Grossman helped troop members organize and keep track of progress on the project. ISP Sgt. Lou Brown accepted the donation from the Brownies at the Feb. 12 meeting and explained how the bears would be used to comfort children in Kosciusko County.
