MARION - Ted LeRoy Snyder, 81, died at 2:10 a.m. Dec. 13, 2009, in Colonial Oaks Rehabilitation and Healthcare, with his wife and daughters by his side.

He was born May 12, 1928, in Fort Wayne, to Theodore Joseph and Marjorie Dicken Snyder. On May 19, 1957, in Warsaw, he married Edna M. Hankins, who survives.

He attended Marion and Bluffton schools prior to his enlistment in the U.S. Army, where he served with the occupational forces in Japan from March 1946 to March 1949. Following his discharge he worked at Farnsworth, Marion. He then worked at Dana Corp. from 1951 until his retirement in 1993, after 42 years in the same job. He was a member of Unity Christian Church, the Van Buren American Legion and Marion Men's Bowling Association. He was especially proud of having achieved a perfect 300 game, 700 series and induction into the Hall of Fame in 1999. He was an avid fisherman.

Also surviving are two daughters, Cheryl (and spouse Stephen) Bendix, LeChesnay, France, and Marcia (and spouse Larry) Guenin, Marion; three grandchildren: Scott Bendix, Worcester, Mass.; Alec Bendix, Brookline, Mass.; and Emily Bendix, LeChesnay, France; a sister, Donna (and spouse Robert) Anderson, Amboy; and several nieces an nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jean Ernest Crist.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, Marion. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Huntington County.

Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
