Sewers

Here we go again!

My friend, David Doctor the sewer guru, has spoken for the Barbee Lake population again. And, as usual, has spoken in mostly distortion of facts, innuendo and manipulation of the facts (sewer facts, he calls them). What a joke!

My comments refer specifically to Mr. Doctor's article titled "sewer facts" in the Times-Union edition of Aug. 18, 2009.

Quote: "The LRSD does not want or need Tippecanoe/Chapman revenues for the Barbee project." What a laugh! The Barbee chain can't afford the proposed sewer - unless they hook up all dog houses, too (beware, cats, as well).

The Barbee LRSD was voted down 3 to 1 (approximately) when the landowners were privileged to be able to vote. David Doctor chose to ignore the voters of the district and go through the back door by getting the commissioners and IDEM on his side first. Then the good Doctor gave the commissioners a list of people who he thought should be on the LRSD board - so moved. Democracy at work again.

As your letter states, Barbee Lakes' customer base is much larger than Tippecanoe/Chapman lakes. The real question is, is it big enough to get a reasonable sewer rate? It wasn't the last time a previous Barbee sewer board looked at the facts. Has Barbee been growing by leaps and bounds - I don't think so.

I think a countywide system has the potential to be more fair and unbiased, and also has a better chance of being run by people that know what they are doing.
