He was born April 25, 1926, in Whitley County, to Lawrence and Elizabeth Carter Gordon. His wife, Mary, preceded him in death.
He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1944. On Dec. 22, 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving as a medic during World War II. He was honorably discharged Nov. 2, 1945. Following his retirement from Dana, he drove truck. He was a member of Harvest Community Church, Pierceton; Columbia City Lions Club; Larwill Lions Club; and American Legion Post 178, Garrett.
Surviving are three children: Lauise (and spouse Gil) Hoagland, Wichita Kan.; Jerry (and spouse Jackie) Gordon, Albion; and June (and spouse Rod) Gregory, Milton, Kan.; eight grandchildren; four brothers: Ronald Gordon, Fremont; David Gordon, Columbia City; Allen Gordon, Kimmell; and Thomas Gordon, Australia. He also was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
