Offering furniture and home decor for the first-time renter or home buyer to people with redesign projects, The Repurpose Room owners hope to have something for everyone.

The consignment store, 3865 Lake City Highway Suite B, Warsaw, opened its doors Friday.

Located off U.S. 30 and steps away from the popular Maria’s House of Pancakes, The Repurpose Room owners Amie Nelson and Leslie Brown feel good about building a consumer base.

After meeting seven years ago while working together, Nelson and Brown became friends.

They both shared a love of visiting consignment shops before finally deciding to open one of their own.

“Amie and I both love consignment stores and we just felt like it was a good time to start one ourselves,” said Brown.

They opened the 1,000-square-foot facility Friday but have already built up their showroom and are working on bringing in more consignors.

“It just kind of all fell into place,” said Nelson.

The owners were able to get the store ready within weeks after finding out it was on the market.

The Repurpose Room focuses on home goods and furniture.

Items that can be consigned in the store are: kitchen tables, chairs, barstools, dressers, chest of drawers, shelving units, headboards, cabinets, hutches, recliners, couches, occasional chairs, coffee tables, end tables, television stands and desks.

Household items accepted include dish sets, glassware, lamps, tablecloths, teapots, decorative bowls, baskets and area rugs.

Decorative items include framed artwork, vases, artificial flower arrangements, picture frames, accessories and mirrors.

The Repurpose Room doesn’t accept clothing, shoes, jewelry, vacuums, electronics, appliances, cribs, strollers, car seats, shower curtains or sporting equipment.

Seasonal decorations are accepted but Nelson and Brown ask that they be brought in two months prior to the specific holiday or season.

Items valued at less than $2 won’t be accepted.

The Repurpose Room is open Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
