SYRACUSE – Jimmie Dale Webb, 74, of Syracuse, died at 7:44 p.m. July 9, 2011, in his home.

He was born April 7, 1937, in Huntington, W.Va., to Elza and Iva M. Tiller Webb. On June 3, 1956, in Huntington, W.Va., he married Alma J. Burton, who died March 23, 2010.

He graduated from Huntington High School in 1956. He retired in 1998 after 15 years from Southern Michigan State Prison, Jackson, Mich., as a corrections officer, and formerly worked at Goodyear, Jackson, Mich. He moved to Syracuse from Jackson in 1999, where he  lived for 45 years. He was a member of New Life Christian Church, Warsaw, and was a 7th Degree Black Belt karate instructor.

Surviving are two daughters, Tonya (and spouse Stephen) Gaffney, North Webster, and Rebecca (and spouse Robert) Tynan, Syracuse; two sons, Jimmie Jr. (and spouse Inez) Webb and John Allen Webb, all of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Gary (and spouse Louise) Webb, Proctorville, Ohio, and  Robert (and spouse Christine) Webb, Clark Lake, Mich. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Pastor John B. Lowe officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Jackson.

Calling is from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Owen Family Funeral Home, Syracuse.
