Jacob "Jake" Borkholder, 66, of 71324 CR 15, New Paris, died at 8:16 p.m. Dec. 21, 2010, in his residence after a short illness.
He was born Sept. 15, 1944, in Goshen, to Melvin Borkholder and Amanda Miller. On Sept. 15, 1966, in Elkhart County, he married Laura Mae Lehman, who survives.
A lifetime area resident, he was a member of Fairview Amish Mennonite Church, and retired from Fairmont Homes, Nappanee.
Also surviving are three daughters: Loretta (and spouse Kenny) Yoder, Milford; Edith (and spouse Vernon) Slabaugh, Nappanee; Sharon (and spouse Carl) Miller, New Paris; three sons: Lavon (and spouse Katie) Borkholder, Millersberg; Olen (and spouse Lois) Borkholder, Milford; Leon (and spouse Laura) Borkholder, Nappanee; four brothers: Perry Borkholder, Etna Green; Oba (and spouse Laura) Borkholder, Mendon, Mich.; Melvin (and spouse Linda) Borkholder, Milford; Larry (and spouse Susie) Borkholder, Topeka; five sisters: Ada (and spouse Monroe) Miller, Nappanee; Ann Miller, Burr Oak, Mich.; Katie (and spouse Vernon) Hochstetler and Clara (and spouse Marvin) Miller, all of Centerville, Mich.; Mary Borkholder, Wisconsin; 30 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Mt. Tabor Fellowship Hall, with Ministers Randy Miller and Clarence Bontrager officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Amish Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Calling is 6 to 8 p.m. today, and 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Tabor Fellowship Hall.
Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, is in charge of arrangements.
