ROCHESTER – Jackie D. “Jack” Utter, 76, of 714 Race St., Rochester, died at 7:30 p.m. May 8, 2011, in  Roudebush VA Medical Center, Indianapolis.
He was born Jan. 15, 1935, in Akron, to Robert and Bina Swartzlander Utter. On Nov. 16, 1963, he married Lynette Brockey. They later divorced.
He graduated from Akron High School in 1953, where he played softball and basketball. He served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in the Panama Canal Region during the construction of the canal. He was self-employed most of his life, from a milk route after he returned from the service to Utter Body Shop to Rochester Tower Co., with several ventures in between. He semi-retired in 1996, staying plenty busy with his rental properties. He spent winters in Sebring, Fla.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Joyce Overmyer; two sons, Randy (and spouse Jennifer) Utter  and Rick (and spouse Teri) Utter, all of Rochester; a daughter, Trisha Utter, Rochester; four grandchildren;                                  a sister, Marguerite Swick, Beaver Dam; and a brother, Morse (Pat) Utter, Akron. He was preceded in death by a brother.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with the Rev. Jimmy Calhoun officiating. Burial will be in Athens Cemetery.
Calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
