ROCHESTER - Harry R. Sundine, 83, of Brownsburg, and formerly of Rochester, died Jan. 13, 2011, in Yellow Rose Hospice, Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis.

He was born July 16, 1927, in Rockford, Ill., to Thor A. and Esther Welin Sundine. On March 18, 1947, in Bluffton, he married Jean C. Calacurcio, who survives.

He graduated from East High School and was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Rockford. He served in the U.S. Navy, attached to the 1st Special U.S.N.C.B. in the South Pacific and occupation of Japan. After an honorable discharge in 1946, he worked in the fastener industry at Rockford Screw Products, Mid-States Screw Corp, Rockford, Ill., and later was general manager of National Lock Co., Greenville, Ky. Moving to Rochester in 1968, he worked at Torx Division of Camcar, Rochester, for more than 21 years, retiring as manufacturing manager in 1990. He spent the winter months in Fort Myers Beach, Fla. He was a Kentucky Colonel, Rochester member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge and the charter Rochester Toastmasters Club. He resided in Rochester for more than 40 years before moving to Brownsburg in 2009.

Also surviving are two sons, Steve (and spouse Mary) Sundine, Rochester, and Cal (and spouse Teri) Sundine, Richmond; a daughter, Becky Sundine, Brownsburg; two grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Good Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with Chaplain Jason See officiating. Burial will be in Rochester IOOF Cemetery with full military rites by members of Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars Post and the Leroy Shelton American Legion Post.

Calling is from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
