According to Sgt. Chad Hill, Information Officer for the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department, there were 36 "slide-offs" through 10 a.m. Lt. Kip Shuter of the Warsaw Police Department stated that within city limits, there were 5 accidents during early morning hours.
There have been no serious crashes at this time. At approximately 6 a.m., five semi-tractor/trailers became stuck going up a hill on U.S. 30 just east of Ind. 13 near Pierceton.
Law enforcement are asking motorist to plan ahead before traveling today. Roadways are still slick in several areas, particularly on county back roads. Police are urging motorist to slow down and give ample room to stop due to the "black ice".
