Editor, Times-Union:
For the third straight year, the annual Polar Bear Plunge on Lake Tippecanoe was a fantastic success. Even though the number of bears taking the plunge was slightly down, we were able to include the Food Bank of Syracuse in addition to our support of the North Webster facility.

We gratefully acknowledge the Kosciusko County Dive Team, North Webster EMS, Jeff Carey of Carey Excavating, Rick Gibson of Sysco, Mike Clapp of U.S. Foods and Nelson Beverage, who without your generous donations and support, this endeavor would never occur.

A sincere thank you to all who volunteered their time and resources. To everyone who works at Petey’s, a huge thank you for putting up with Roy and I. Kudos to the food pantries for the volunteers they provided in moving and stocking their shelves.

Please thank everyone you see who wears a plunge T-shirt. These brave souls are the real reason that the Polar Plunge continues to grow.

With new ideas and plans for next year, we hope to grow and provide more activities for a bigger and better 2012. Bring on the summer.
