Beginning Tuesday, the gallery at rua will feature a showing of the selected works of three local artists: Mike Kelly, Brenda Stichter and Timothy W. Young titled “Kelly, Stichter & Young - The Texture of Color.”

Located in the Brennan Room of Rua downtown Warsaw, the exhibit will run through much of 2020, and the public is invited to the artist reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 7.

Kelly, Stichter and Young’s exhibit will feature selected pieces of their current and past work. The show will highlight their use of strong color combinations and mark making to create the textures and richness that is common between their work, whether in abstract or more realistic forms, according to a news release from rua. All works will be available for immediate sale.

Kelly, Winona Lake, is a contemporary American landscape artist who paints in oil and pastel. His work is featured in several Midwest galleries. Kelly’s style borders on the edge of abstraction and representation, and each piece is “a journey of visual discovery where color is the primary focus and soul of the painting,” the release states.

Stichter is an emerging artist with a growing regional and national clientele. Her textured acrylic paintings are mostly abstracts or abstracted landscapes that portray her personal response to beauty, culture and Scripture. Stichter has participated in local, state and national exhibitions and contests, including the SALI National Abstract Art Exhibition and the BoldBrush Painting Competition. She is teaching, studying and painting regularly in her studio near Warsaw.

Young is a contemporary American artist and a long-time resident of Warsaw. His work has been exhibited in galleries and cultural centers throughout the United States including the Midwest Museum of American Art, Indiana; Schumacher Gallery, Columbus, Ohio; Graham Center Museum, Wheaton, Ill.; The Paul Mellon Arts Center, Connecticut; and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Ky. In addition, his works are in private collections throughout the United States.
