Violet Louise Sponseller, age 93, of Leesburg, passed away at 4:15 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2019, in Grace Village Health Care.

She was born on Jan. 9, 1926, in Indianapolis, to Ernest Barth and Bertha Chubb Wolfe. On Oct. 3, 1942, she was united in marriage to Russell Roy Sponseller in Warsaw.

Violet moved to the Kosciusko County area from LaPorte in 1964. During her life, she and her husband owned and operated Dog-N-Suds on Winona Avenue. She also worked at Hooks Drugstore.

She was a Lambda Chi Omega member as well as a member at the Moose Lodge 1423. She enjoyed crocheting and making dolls for her grandkids.

An evening out dancing was always a fun time with Violet. She loved her dog, Heidi, and most of all she loved and cherished her family dearly.

She is survived by her children: Russell L. Sponseller of Ossian, Caroline Sue (Harry) Wittig of Leesburg, Diana Kay Allen of Leesburg, Peggy Jo (Ronald) Campbell of Warsaw, Janet Lee (Kevin) Kinney of Leesburg and Jo Ellen (Troy) Dirck of Warsaw, sisters, Betty Vanscoik and Wilma Tobey; 19 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Roy Sponseller in November 2003; two daughters, Patricia Ann Holle and Sandra Lynn Fiedeke; and seven siblings.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 10, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. Pastor Rob Seewald will officiate the funeral service.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
