AKRON – Brenda G. Miller, 65, of rural Akron, passed at 3:34 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka.

She was born on Jan. 23, 1954, in Rochester, to Dale L. “Butch” and Betty Howard Miller.

She had worked for the manufactured home industry as well as being a waitress at several restaurants, including Teel’s and the Bull Dog, both of Mentone.

She was a 1972 graduate of Akron High School. She furthered her education at Ivy Tech of Kokomo, graduating as a medical assistant.

She enjoyed dogs, cats, horses and many other animals. She loved to spend time gardening and with her family.

Survivors include a son, Brandon H. (and wife Deb Miller), Akron, and their children, Allison and Greg; sisters, Sherri L. (and husband Jeff) Secrist, Rochester, and Lori M. (and husband Steven) Stiffler, Akron; and nieces and nephews: Scott, Ryan and wife Kayla, Kevan and wife Erica, Kyle and fiancée Samantha, Jenny and husband Justin, Jessica and husband Mitch, and Jaclyn and husband Dylan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Butch and Betty Miller.

A private family service will take place at the Athens Cemetery, with the Rev. Phil Pratt officiating.

Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 19, at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron.
