Two people were injured Tuesday when a 14-year-old girl drove an SUV into the back of a semi tractor-trailer in Warsaw.

The driver of the SUV, Savannah Tran, 14, South Brallier Road, Pierceton, suffered injuries to her upper lip and complained of pain to her head and neck. She was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for medical treatment.

A backseat passenger in the SUV, Alejandro Garcia, 15, East Levi Lee Road, Warsaw, complained of pain to his right upper arm area and of being dizzy. He also was taken to KCH.

A third unidentified minor was taken to KCH as a precautionary measure.

The collision happened at about 5:57 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of North Detroit and East Fort Wayne streets, Warsaw.

According to a Warsaw Police accident report, a 2010 black GMC Acadia, driven by Tran and registered to Justin J. Anderson, South Brallier Road, Pierceton, was traveling south on North Detroit Street approaching the intersection at East Fort Wayne Street when Tran told officers she remembered slowing down. However, she then remembered the collision and the airbag deploying.

The driver of the semi tractor-trailer, Corey R. Culp, 48, Shaffer Road, Warsaw, was not injured. His vehicle is registered to Tom Farms, North Harper Road, Leesburg.

Culp was stopped at the intersection when his trailer was hit from the rear by the SUV, according to the report.

Damage to the SUV was to the hood, front bumper and radiator, but damage to the semi tractor-trailer was limited to a mud flap hanger of the trailer.

The accident report said Tran does not have a driver’s license, is under the age to have one and was cited for operator never licensed.
