A Syracuse man who called the police on himself for molesting children was sentenced Thursday to five years in prison.

Ronald D. Hensley, 55, with a prior address of 5251 E. CR 800N, Syracuse, was arrested in February for child molesting, a Class C felony.

On Thursday, Kosciusko County Superior Court I Judge David Cates sentenced Hensley for that charge to five years in the Indiana Department of Corrections, with two years suspended on probation.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Feb. 13, Hensley called the North Webster Police Department and said he wanted to confess to molesting three children. NWPD called Indiana State Police.

Hensley told investigators he touched a 9-year-old girl in 2012 by removing her pants, fondling her and touching himself. Hensley admitted these acts occurred about 12 separate times.

Hensley then told police he wanted to confess to molesting two other children 16 years ago. Those children were ages 6 and 8 when Hensley admitted he would fondle them.

Upon Hensley's release from incarceration, he must register as a sex offender and never be alone with anyone under the age of 18 years old.
