A South Whitley man was injured this morning in a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 30 after trying to avoid a collision with a semi.

James Tinsley, 35, of 802 S. State St., #43, South Whitley, complained of pain to the arm and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment, according to information from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department.

The accident occurred at 7:54 a.m. today in front of Superior Landscaping, 3141 E. U.S. 30, Warsaw.

Tinsley told police he was driving west in the left lane in his black 2003 Chevrolet Envoy near the intersection of CR 325E. A  semi passed his Envoy on the right lane and then moved over to the left lane in front of Tinsley’s vehicle and then slammed on the brakes, according to Tinsley.

Tinsley swerved to avoid colliding with the semi and went off the road, rolling at least one time, before coming to rest upright on its wheels. He was wearing a seatbelt and airbags were deployed.

Damage was estimated to be $5,000 to $10,000.
