Beginning Thursday, the Times-Union will begin partnering with the United States Postal Service for delivery of our newspapers.

The move will not affect the timeliness of the news. The Monday evening town council story will still be in Tuesday’s edition. Friday night sports coverage will still be in Saturday’s edition.

We have adjusted to an a.m. publishing schedule – our press runs at midnight now instead of noon.

This schedule gives us the opportunity to get our newspapers to the various post offices throughout the county in time to have them delivered the same day.

Given the current landscape of the newspaper industry, the move affords us significant savings in distribution costs.

We want to thank our many newspaper carriers, who over the years have toiled so loyally for us.

We hope readers will understand this move and embrace the fact that their daily newspaper will be included each day in their mail.
