A Warsaw man is facing charges after allegedly brandishing a knife at a woman while children were in the home.

Robert Allen Stouder, 41, of 503 W. Center St., apt. A, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:52 a.m. Thursday and faces two charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, Level 5 felonies; and a Class A misdemeanor invasion of privacy charge.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Wednesday Warsaw police officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Center Street and, upon arrival, saw several people standing outside who pointed police in the direction of the disturbance.

According to court papers, police could hear loud banging coming from the suspect apartment. After police knocked, Stouder and a woman came to the door. The woman was allegedly holding a small child in her arms at the time.

When police spoke with Stouder, according to the affidavit, he said he believed there was a no-contact order in place between he and the woman but that he had been living at the home for about a month. Stouder further told police he and the woman got into a fight and that the woman struck him in the face.

When police spoke to the woman, according to the affidavit, she said both she and Stouder had been drinking and gotten into an argument after Stouder took a child out of a crib. The woman told police that Stouder then took a pocket knife out and began pointing it at her in a threatening manner.

According to court papers, she admitted she struck Stouder in the face but it was only to try to get him to drop the knife. When Stouder did not drop the knife, the woman told police she began banging on the apartment walls to try to get neighbors’ attention.

According to the affidavit, police located the knife in the apartment. Police also spoke with neighbors, with one telling police he heard a bunch of noise and heard the woman yell through the wall, “Give me the baby and get the knife out of here.”

Police also spoke to a child in the home at the time, and, according to the affidavit, the child said Stouder was “yelling at the top of his lungs ‘let go’” and was running around the apartment. The child further told police he heard Stouder say, “I’m going to kill you!” to the woman and heard the woman tell Stouder to put the knife down.

According to court records, Stouder is currently on bond in Kosciusko Superior Court II for domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16.

Stouder also had a no-contact order in place with the woman in the matter that was served to him on Feb. 22.

Stouder’s bond was set at $5,250.
